Vera, a former beggar, does not hesitate to trample on others and engage in despicable deals to survive. Even in an era where the Demon King appeared, he did not fight like a hero but hid in the deepest darkness to preserve only his own life. Although he survived to the very end, what returned after the war ended was karma. As he awaited death consumed by a curse, Vera believed that no one would stand by his side at the end of his life and did not wish for one. However, when he opened his eyes, he found himself in a gutter, where René, a blind saint declared dead, stood. Although René possessed a wretched appearance covered in burn scars and blindness, she took Vera in with a heart kinder and more altruistic than anyone else. Yet, she eventually died, and Vera could not prevent her passing. Upon his regression, he vows that this time, he will seek her out first and protect her at all costs. However, protecting René is not something that can be solved simply by becoming stronger. On the day the Saint’s Stigmata rest upon her, the entire continent—including the Holy Kingdom, the Empire, the Alliance of Kingdoms, the Dragonians, and the Followers of the Night—begins to move around her.
